Live Games and Homework Are Different Jobs
We'll be straight with you: if you want music and a leaderboard on the classroom projector, use Kahoot. If you want practice that happens outside class, that's what we're built for.
When Kahoot is the right choice
- •Live, whole-class energy with a projector and countdown music
- •Competition: leaderboards, points, team modes
- •A quick warm-up or review game during class time
When Cloze Generator is the right choice
- •Homework and self-paced review—students answer whenever, wherever
- •No student accounts and no join codes—just a link
- •Typed fill-in-the-blank answers, not only tap-the-choice
- •Auto-graded results in your answer history—no live session needed
Built for Asynchronous Practice
One Link, Zero Friction
Paste the quiz URL into Google Classroom, a class chat, or email. Students open it on phones, tablets, or Chromebooks—no PINs, no sign-ups.
Recall, Not Just Recognition
Click words in any text to create typed-answer blanks. Students must produce the answer—deeper practice than picking from four options.
Graded While You Sleep
Every submission is auto-scored instantly. Check the answer history in the morning to see who practiced and what they missed.
Hints & Explanations
Attach hints for stuck students and explanations that appear after answering, so homework teaches instead of just testing.
AI Quiz Drafting
Generate a homework quiz from your lesson text, a PDF, or a photo of the textbook page (6/day on the free plan), then adjust the blanks by clicking.
Know Who Answered
On the paid plan, require a name or sign-in before answering—useful when homework counts toward participation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a live game like Kahoot?
No—and that is the point. There are no leaderboards, music, or team battles. Cloze Generator is a self-paced quiz tool: students open a link whenever it suits them, answer at their own speed, and get auto-graded instantly. For live, energetic class games, Kahoot remains a great choice.
Do students need accounts or join codes?
Neither. You share a URL (through Google Classroom, a class chat, or email) and students open it in any browser on any device. No accounts, no PINs, no app installs.
How do I see who answered?
Submitted answers appear in your answer history (latest 10 records on the free plan, 300 on the paid plan). On the paid plan you can also require students to enter a name or sign in before answering.
What question types can I use?
Fill-in-the-blank (click any word in a text to hide it), multiple choice (up to 3 options on the free plan, 4+ on paid), and written answers with a model answer. You can add hints and explanations to each question.
Is it free?
There is a free plan with no credit card: up to 3 private and 10 public quizzes, 30 questions each, including AI quiz generation 6 times per day. The paid plan is $12/month or $48 per 6 months.
